How to Delete Life-Spam

Just about every adult in the US has email. In that email box is probably at least one to three spam messages. If you're not 100% sure what spam is, just check your email inbox and look for any email from someone, or some company, you don't know.

Chances are it's spam.

Additionally, spam can be pop-up ads on store websites, blogs and at the bottom of email accounts. If you still aren't sure about electronic spam click here.

So, now that you have an idea of what spam in technology looks like, you're probably wondering what 'life-spam' is.

Life spam can be a variety of things, from junk mail in your snail-mailbox outside your house, to an excessive amount of annoying Facebook ads (or whining & negativity) cluttering up your page.

Life-spam is everywhere.

Some of it is invited, like when you sign up to be on a mailing list or a club.

Other type of spam isn't, like when you're boss spams you with negativity, your friends and family spam you with unsolicited advice; you can even spam yourself!!! Yes, you can~ with stuff you don't need at the store, all the way to too much worry or negative thoughts!

So how do you get rid of life-spam? Well, much like electronic spam, you will never be able to completely escape it. Like your email account, you exist, have an address, and people can find you, and... it's pretty hard to escape your brain. So you'll never be able to get rid of it all, but you can limit it.

Think about canned spam. I've never had it, I don't know what it's used for, but I do know it's canned. Contained- with a lid- unless I open it.

That's what I like doing with life-spam- I 'can it'.

  • For negative people: limit contact and interaction. Ask less questions when you're together. It keeps conversation down.

  • For facebook spammers: adjust your settings on your page so that not all of their posts get through.

  • For friends with more suggestions than you bargained for? Practice keeping some parts of your life private, and don't ask for advice unless you have time to listen to more than you expected. Yes, this means Facebook less of your life...

  • For your negative, worrisome brain? Read things like this classic: Don't Sweat the Small Stuff and What to Say When You Talk to Yourself. Whenever you begin thinking negative, replace it with a happy thought. If you are religious, replace it with prayer (the bible has a lot regarding worry).

Anything that clutters your inbox, at home or in your mind, is spam. There's no use for spam really. I mean how many of us are looking for a Russian bride, pills unapproved from the  FDA, constant negativity or a really bad computer virus where the only way to fix it is to give someone your bank information or $200.00? (Don't ever do that last one- it's a joke...because that is exactly what happens when we answer those messages sometimes-and it only gets worse from there.)

'Can the spam' in your life. And be happier!
